Want to buy a nice doorbell?

The doorbell, depending on who you expect, can be one of the nicest or worst sounds you can hear while sitting on the couch at home. Many people still have an old doorbell with a standard ring. And of course there is nothing wrong with that, but you should know that there is a whole different world open to you when it comes to doorbells!

Types of doorbells

With a doorbell you hear that someone is at the door. But what different types of doorbells are there? You can go in any direction. Do you want a modern doorbell that plays a cheerful tune when someone rings the doorbell? Or would you prefer a traditional bell that simply rings without any extra fuss? Anything is possible, but in general there are three different types of doorbells:

• The standard doorbell. When the button is pressed outside, a small spoon hits the metal bell at a high frequency, causing the well-known trrrrrr sound.
• A traditional pull bell. Instead of pressing a button, your visitor must pull the button. This causes the bell to ring.
• An electric doorbell that works with a speaker. Instead of the trrrrrr sound of the standard bell, this bell sounds a melody when someone is at your door.

Apart from the pull bell, the other bells are available in all kinds of different shapes and sizes. This way you can make your bell fit perfectly with the rest of your door. What should you pay attention to when purchasing a doorbell?

Before you purchase a new doorbell, it is important to know exactly what you are looking for.
Most people want the doorbell to stand out when you are at the door, but not to attract all the attention. The simplest way to choose a good doorbell is to look at the color, shape and material of your doorknob. If you have a matte black doorknob, a matte black doorbell almost always looks good with it. If you also want to purchase a new doorknob immediately - many of our doorbells have matching doorknobs displayed on the product page of the bell itself. The next thing you will need to consider is whether there is an electrical connection at your door. If you have had a pull bell for years, it may mean that you also have to connect electricity for another bell. If you don't need this and want to keep it nice and easy, it is best to stick with the pull bell. If, on the other hand, you already have electrical wiring at the door, you can choose any bell you want.
