Good safety is of course very important. You want to feel comfortable in your home, when you are at home, but also when you are on holiday, for example. That is why we have a complete safety package for your home.

On our website you will find a complete range for optimizing the safety of your home. From (security) locks to digital door spies , and from security fittings to the best locks .

        What is a security lock?

A security lock differs from a "normal" lock because extra measures have been taken to protect the lock against known burglary methods. This makes security locks ideal for securing exterior doors. A good security lock prevents burglars from quickly opening an (outside) door. A security lock is therefore often referred to as an exterior door lock or lock for the front door or back door.

SKG quality mark and Police Quality Mark Safe Living

In the field of safety, there are two important certificates in the Netherlands. On the one hand, the SKG quality mark and on the other hand, the Police Quality Mark for Safe Living (PKVW).

All our locks are suitable for applying for the PKVW quality mark. The PKVW is a certificate that you can apply for if you have properly secured your home. An inspector will come by to assess the application. With the PKVW you have less chance of burglaries and you can even get a discount on some insurance premiums.

The SKG quality mark indicates how well a product is resistant to burglaries. There are 3 levels: 1, 2 or 3 stars. Almost all our locks meet the SKG 2 star quality mark. This way you can be sure that your lock is properly secured.

How do I choose the right lock?

There are a number of important things to be able to choose the right lock. Below we list them for you.

        PC size (slot recess)

First of all, it is important to know the lock recess. The lock recess is the distance between the hole where the door handle goes through the door and the hole where the key is inserted into the lock. This size is also called the Profile-Cylinder (PC) size. Always measure this size from center to center. That is, from the center of the hole to the center of the other hole.

The PC size also determines the length of the lock. That is why it is important to know this size if you are replacing an existing lock or if there is already a recess for the lock in the door.

There are 3 sizes as standard:

        • PC55
        • PC72
        • PC92

Nowadays, most doors are suitable for a PC72 lock as standard. A few are made for a PC55 lock.

        Backset

The backset is the distance from the hole where the key goes in the lock to the front of the door. All our locks have a (standard) backset of 50mm. Almost all new locks have a backset of 50mm.

        Shape of the front plate

Finally, it is important to look at the face plate of the lock. There are locks with a rounded front plate and with a rectangular front plate. This is only important if you want to replace an existing lock with a new lock or have a door that already has a recess for a lock. Then choose the same shape of the front plate to avoid having to adjust the door.

Do you not yet have a lock or recess for a lock in the door? Then this is mainly a matter of taste.

        Replace standard interior door lock

In some cases, interior door locks are still used for the exterior door. A standard interior door lock does not provide sufficient protection against burglaries. That is why we advise you to replace it as soon as possible.

An interior door lock often has standard dimensions:

        • – A front plate of 174mm high and 20mm wide.
        • – A total depth of 80mm.

Especially to allow these locks to be replaced quickly and easily, both Intersteel and Nemef developed a lock to replace an existing interior door lock with a security lock, without having to adjust the door.

        Security lock from well-known brands

In our range you will find locks from the best-known and most important brands. We currently offer Nemef and Intersteel locks.

        Locks of Nemef

Nemef brand in our range . Nemef is a Dutch brand that operates from Apeldoorn. The brand is part of the Assa Abloy lines. Nemef is one of the biggest names in the field of (security) locks. Almost all standards in the field of locks come from them. Other brands often work with “Nemef sizes”.

        Locks from Intersteel

In addition to Nemef security locks, we also offer Intersteel locks. Intersteel has mainly made a name for itself in the field of interior door fittings. In recent years they have increasingly developed as an all-round company and that is why they now also offer (security) locks of very high quality. Moreover, these locks are a lot cheaper than Nemef locks.

        Profile cylinders & security fittings

In addition to a security lock, there are a number of other products that are needed to optimally secure your home or building.

To operate a lock you need a profile cylinder . A profile cylinder is the part where you insert the key and which you can turn. Without a cylinder, a lock will not work. You purchase a cylinder separately and put it in the lock. You also have several choices in security levels when it comes to cylinders.

In addition to a profile cylinder, security fittings of great importance. Good security fittings ensure that the cylinder and the lock are better protected. Therefore, always choose fittings with a thicker outside and with anti-core pulling protection. With such security it becomes very difficult to break open a cylinder or lock and gain entry.
