You must ensure that the door is not thicker than a maximum of 50 mm. If the door is thicker, the supplied handle pin and patent bolts are too short and you must order an extra long handle pin and patent bolts.
Do you have any questions about extra long patent bolts or a longer crank pin? Please feel free to contact us.
Always check whether the existing lock still has sufficient resilience to keep the handle up. If not, we recommend that you replace the lock immediately. When the spring force of the lock is no longer sufficient to hold the handles up, the springs built into the handles will lose their strength more quickly.
All our stools, for the sake of strength, are attached with a patent bolt. You screw this bolt into the door on both sides through a pre-drilled hole. A patent bolt consists of two parts, one of which can be screwed into the other, so that a bolt fits on any door up to 50 mm thick.
Because the rosettes are spring-loaded and are not allowed to turn when the handle goes down, the patent bolts go straight through the door and the rosettes are connected to each other.
It is important to pay attention to this, because older locks do not have holes in the lock case through which the patent bolts can pass. In that case, we recommend installing another lock with holes for the patent bolts. You can also choose not to secure the rosettes with a patent bolt but to screw them directly into the wood. In that case, the rosettes will be less firmly secured and over time there will be play between the rosette and the door. Pin by properly tightening the screws on the bottom/side with an Allen key.
Purchasing door handles is a painstaking job, as the style must match your home, but the correct size of the door handle and door fittings must also be chosen. Take your time when purchasing door handles.
