Replace door handles

Replacing door handles is fairly easy and quick to do. Below we explain how you can replace door handles on rosette and door handles on shield. We have instructions for replacing rosette crutches and for replacing shield crutches .

Replace door handle on rosette

• Remove the old stool set
• 1. First loosen the small screws at the bottom/side of the door handles. Now you can take the handles off the handle pin (the square metal pin that connects the handles through the door and the lock) and remove the handle pin.
• 2. You can pry off the rosette caps with a flat screwdriver. These are the metal plates that sit against the door. There is a notch somewhere in the rosette (often at the bottom) that can be used to release the caps. Do this on both sides of the door.
• 3. When the rosette caps are removed you will see the bottom rosettes. These are the rounder metal holders that the stool sits in. These are attached to the door with screws and you can unscrew them with a screwdriver or screwdriver.
• 4. Once all this has been accomplished, you will be left with a bare door with a hole where the handles used to be.
• Install the new stool set
• 5. You insert the handle pin into one of the two handles and place it through the opening in the door and on the other side you place the other handle on the pin.
• 6. Then screw the bottom rosettes together and place the rosette caps over the handles with the notch at the bottom.
• 7. You securely tighten the cranks on the crank pin by tightening the screws on the bottom/side with an Allen key.

Replace door handle on shield

• Remove the old stool set
• 1. First loosen the small screws at the bottom/side of the door handles. Now you can take the handles off the handle pin (the square metal pin that connects the handles through the door and the lock) and remove the handle pin.
• 2. Now that the crutches are off the shield, you can unscrew the shields themselves. Do this on both sides of the door. The shields can be screwed directly to the door or connected to each other with a patent bolt. That is a long screw, consisting of two rotating parts, that goes through the door.
• 3. Once all this has been accomplished, you will be left with a bare door with a hole where the handles used to be.
• Install the new stool set
• 4. Since all crutches on shields have a fixed size (note this when purchasing a new set!), you can easily install the new shields. Hold one of the shields against the door and push the patent bolts (the long part) through. Now you can hold the other shield against the door on the other side and push the other side of the patent bolt (the short part) through. Attach the two parts of the patent bolt together.
• 5. Once the shields are on the door, attach one of the two handles to the pin, tighten it onto the pin and push the pin through the lock. Check carefully whether the door handle and lock are easy to operate.
• 6. When the crank can be operated properly, place the other crank on the other end of the crank pin and tighten it. Replacing the crutches on shield is ready.
